Check out BART IDIOT HALL OF FAME ON
As if BART trains didn’t see enough bare skin in 2013, the New Year kicks in with a bit more clothes-free fun: the annual No Pants Subway Ride.
On Sunday, riders from across the Bay Area are expected to drop trou on trains, according to the event’s Facebook page.
“If someone asks why you aren’t wearing pants, just say you forgot them,” the page advises.
The organizer, Improv Everywhere, says it’s the 13th year that it will ask riders to show up pantsless. The event started in New York City with seven guys and now spans some 60 cities in 25 countries with tens of thousands expected to participate. The motivation for the event appears to be simply whimsy.
“Why the hell not?” writes one commenter who plans to attend.
Organizers advise against riding trains completely in the buff. But if you need help mustering the courage to lose just the pants, group encouragement sessions will be held, organizers say.
BART officials did not immediately return calls for comment.
The event comes after a 2013 in which an unusual number of strange, no-pants events transpired on BART trains.
